Three days in Cairo for the Pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum, Saqqara and Islamic Cairo, then a three-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. A first visit with time to go deeper, guided by your own Egyptologist.
This eight-day journey balances Cairo and the Nile. In Cairo you see the Pyramids and the Sphinx, the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Step Pyramid at Saqqara and the old city, with time to meet the craftsmen of Khan el-Khalili.
Then you fly to Aswan and sail north for three nights, stopping at Philae, Kom Ombo and Edfu, and finish in Luxor with Karnak, Luxor Temple by night and the Valley of the Kings, before flying back to Cairo.
Meeting at Cairo airport and private transfer to your hotel. Evening at leisure.
The Giza Pyramids and the Sphinx in the morning, the Grand Egyptian Museum after lunch, and an evening walk through Khan el-Khalili bazaar with tea at one of its old cafés.
Morning at Saqqara for the Step Pyramid of Djoser and its painted tombs. Back in Cairo, the Citadel of Saladin, the Mosque of Muhammad Ali and the medieval street of Al-Muizz, where you can watch copper and glass workers at work.
Morning flight to Aswan and boarding of your cruise ship. Visit the Temple of Philae and the High Dam, and in the afternoon take a felucca around Elephantine and Kitchener's Island.
Optional dawn trip to Abu Simbel. Then sail to Kom Ombo for its double temple of Sobek and Horus and the small crocodile museum, and continue north along the river.
Visit the Temple of Horus at Edfu in the morning and sail to Luxor. In the afternoon, the great temple complex of Karnak, and in the evening Luxor Temple lit up after dark.
Disembark and cross to the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Evening flight back to Cairo.
