Alexandria
Three unhurried days in Alexandria: the Corniche and Qaitbay Citadel, the Catacombs and Pompey's Pillar, the Bibliotheca, Montaza Gardens and fresh fish by the harbour, staying near the sea.
A weekend for those who want more than a day trip: time to walk the Corniche at sunset, sit in the old cafés and see the city's sights without watching the clock.
We stay in a good-value hotel close to the sea. Access to some sites, such as the Catacombs, can change; we adjust the programme if needed.
Transfer to Alexandria and check in near the sea. Evening walk along the Corniche to the Citadel of Qaitbay.
The Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, Pompey's Pillar and the Roman Amphitheatre, then the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. Dinner of fresh fish by the harbour (not included).
Morning in the Montaza Palace Gardens, then transfer back.
