Alexandria Sightseeing
A full day in Alexandria with your own Egyptologist guide: the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, Pompey's Pillar, the Alexandria National Museum, the Citadel of Qaitbay and the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Alexandria was the capital of Egypt for almost a thousand years, the city of Alexander the Great, Cleopatra and the great Library. This private day shows its layers in the right order: Roman tombs underground, Greek and Pharaonic treasures in the National Museum, the medieval fort on the site of the Lighthouse, and the modern library by the sea.
It is the most complete of our Alexandria days, with time for the museum that most tours skip. The price falls per person as your group grows; see the price list below.
Meet your guide in the morning and start underground at the Catacombs of Kom el-Shoqafa, where Egyptian, Greek and Roman art meet. Walk on to Pompey's Pillar and the ruins of the Serapeum. After lunch (not included), see the Alexandria National Museum, then the Citadel of Qaitbay on the site of the ancient Lighthouse, and end at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina before driving back to your hotel.
